what are The benefits of a cold room

There are plenty of reasons to invest in a cold room, whether it's a fridge or freezer.

  1. For starters, your cold room can be designed to address your specific requirements, keeping your running costs down.
  2. It's also much more convenient if you have large amounts of product to store at a specific temperature.
  3. Many of our clients who need to prepare food in advance also find them to be cheaper in the long term.
  4. Often, a lot of food can be wasted due to a lack of space or poor storage techniques – such as fresh fruit that gets stuffed at the back of a tightly packed fridge and expires before it can be used. With a walk-in fridge and the extra space it provides, it becomes much easier to store your food efficiently.
  5. On top of this, a dedicated cold room can help you save space elsewhere – returning to the common example of food preparation, it should provide more free counter space in the kitchen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the location of the cold room matter?

As with the construction of virtually any room, location is a key decision to take into account. Most of the requirements should be fairly obvious – good ventilation and a local power supply are important factors, as you simply can't have an effective cold room without them. Beyond that, it does help to use a relatively cool room to begin with, which is not situated next to any major heat sources.

What power does a cold room need?

Cold rooms are typically powered by a standard socket, but there is always the option to use a generator too. While using your building's normal power supply might seem convenient, we actually advise opting for a generator instead. After all, if your building loses power, you have peace of mind that your products won't spoil until electricity is restored.

How are cold rooms serviced and maintained?

At Davies Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, we take pride in knowing our cold rooms will last for years to come, but we're also equipped to handle any refrigeration maintenance needs that might develop throughout the room’s life cycle. Given that the products within the room could be relying on extra-low temperatures to be edible (or even medically viable), it is important to do regular checks of the room’s temperature.

What if my cold room suddenly stops working?

If your cold room develops an unexpected fault or issue, then Davies Refrigeration & Air Conditioning is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We know that you can't wait until the next ‘working day’ for your cold room to be fixed, especially not when they typically contain items that can spoil. Call us on 0412 846 854 and we'll get to you as soon as possible.
